ACADEMIC E-N-G-L-I-S-H!!

According to the Oxford dictionary,
Academic means:
1.Connected to education especially in schools & universities.
2.Involving a lot of reading & studying rather than practical/technical skills.
3.Not connected to a real/practical situation.

English means:
1.The language, originally from England, now spoken in many other countries& used as a language of international communication throughout the world
2.Literature as a subject of study

Well.. our ACADEMIC ENGLISH class is the total opposite of what it means. We do not learn English academically but we learn the subject in a much more fun & interesting way. Thanks to our lecturer, Mr. Sean Khoo. On Thursday, the 15th of January 2009, we had our very own Golden Globe Award in class. We started of with introducing our "fake celebrity identities" & being interviewed by the world's famous American Idol, E!News Host & KIIS fm's American top 40's DJ Ryan Seacrest from Penang, Malaysia. The celebrities present were the "rose from the dead" Dark Knight's actor as "the Joker", Heath Ledger, Princess Diaries' actress, Anne Hathaway, Disney's Hannah Montana's actress, Miley Cyrus, Daredevil's actor Ben Affleck, Miss Sasha Fierce, Beyonce Knowles, Bangkok Dangerous' actor Nicholas Cage & Memoirs of A Geisha's actress Zhang ZiYi.
After the interviews, we learnt about the 4 basics of drama. We had to act out what Sean asks us to portray. It somehow practically like charades. Then we were splited into 2 groups to act out a scene & the other group had to guess it. After that, we were again splited into 2 different groups to play charades. So there were 2 groups, the Sewer Rangers & the Clean Freaks. The Clean Freaks won although they have less knowledge about the entertainment world. So, it was practically a lesson learning about drama. It was quite a good experience for us all. I love college life at the moment. It's way better than school life. Although there's a lot of work to do, but it not so hectic as high school life.
